The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 349 SHAW, Merton H. WWII Merton was born at Tessier, Saskatchewan on April 15, 1922. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in Saskatoon on September 22, 1941 and served in the United Kingdom as an air engine mechanic (fitter) on RCAF Squadron 402 which had fighter planes. Leading Aircraftman Shaw left the service in Regina in November 1946 after which he worked with the Saskatoon Post Office. Merton, who married and had a son and daughter, has had both knees replaced since the war. SHAY, Roy WWII Roy was born in Oxbow, Saskatchewan on September 14, 1923. He joined the Army on January 21, 1943 and served in Holland with the Saskatoon Light Infantry during WWII. Private Shay was a driver mechanic involved with bringing Bren gun carriers, troops and munitions to the front. He was discharged on April 2, 1946 and awarded three medals, including the France and Germany Star. Roy has been a member of Oxbow Legion Branch 187. SHEFFIELD, E. F. WWII E. F. Sheffield was born on February 28, 1917 in Saskatoon. He joined the Army in February 1943 and served with the Corps of Military Staff Clerks in Canada until leaving the service on September 14, 1944 as a Corporal. He has been a member of Nutana Legion Branch 362.
