The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 343 SCHUETT, Clifford Martin “Cliff” WWII & PEACETIME Cliff was born in Truax, Saskatchewan in 1919. He joined the Army in 1941 and went overseas in 1943 serving with the South Saskatchewan Regiment (Anti-Tank Corps) in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. At the end of the war, Cliff stayed overseas and did some peacekeeping duties, receiving his discharge in 1949. Cliff returned home to Truax and resumed working on the family farm. He also worked at various places as an auto mechanic and lived his whole life in Southern Saskatchewan. Cliff was a member of Avonlea Legion Branch 236 for forty-four years before he passed away in Regina in 1999 at the age of 79. SCILLEY, Gordon Allen WWII Gordon was born in Aylesbury, Saskatchewan on August 30, 1925. He enlisted in Saskatoon on March 27, 1945 and after training, was posted to Lethbridge, Alberta as a guard at a POW camp for German prisoners. After the war, he was among the guards who took a trainload of prisoners from Lethbridge to England. He returned to Canada and expected to take another trainload to Britain but that never materialized. Private Scilley left the service in Regina on August 26, 1946. After the war, he worked in the gold mines in Yellowknife from 1942-1951 then joined Saskatchewan Power as a mechanic, becoming foreman before his retirement (1951-1983). As a volunteer, he helps kids with bowling and ball. Gordon married and had a son and a daughter. SCISSONS, J. WWII J. Scissons was born on March 25, 1909 in Saskatoon. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in April 1941 and served in Coastal Command until leaving the service on August 1, 1945 as Flight Lieutenant. He has been a member of Nutana Legion Branch 362 and has a daughter.
