The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 339 SCHINDELKA, Clyde WWII Clyde was born in Raymore, Saskatchewan in 1919. He served in the Army’s 65th Tank Transport in Canada, England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany for five and a half years. After his discharge, he managed the Reliance Lumber Co. at Quill Lake and Watson. Later, he worked at the Quill Lake Credit Union, and he also owned an insurance office. Clyde was married, had four children, and was a member of Quill Lake Legion Branch 37 for thirty-six years before he died in 1982. He is buried at Raymore, Saskatchewan. SCHLOSSER, Glenn Frank WWII Glenn was born in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan on October 19, 1919. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in April 1944 and began training as an air gunner in Edmonton, Brandon and Rivers, Manitoba. In December, he was discharged from the Royal Canadian Air Force because of over-recruiting but in January 1945, Glenn re-enlisted in the Navy and spent the year in training at Toronto and Halifax. He was then posted to HMCS Dockside in Halifax where he served as Able Seaman and was on patrol at the VE-Day riot in Halifax. He was again sent on patrol to help keep people out of dangerous situations when the Armament Depot blew up in Bedford Basin. In May, he was sent to Winnipeg for discharge. After the war, Glenn returned to Kerrobert and farmed from 1946 to 1972. He joined the Kerrobert Legion Branch 88 where he served as Sergeant-at-Arms. SCHMIDT, Arnold William Carl WWII Arnold was born on June 17, 1920 in Cabri, Saskatchewan. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in Saskatoon in September 1941. He served as an Anti-aircraft Gunner on HMCS Restigouche from February 1942 to 1944. He then boarded HMCS Pictou and served in the North Atlantic until his discharge in August 1945. He was awarded five medals for his war service. Arnold was a member of Kindersley Legion Branch 57 for five years and he died on October 8, 2005.
