The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 327 RUDICK, James WWII James was born in Clair, SK in 1921. He joined the RCAF and served in Canada and Europe from 1941-46. He also served in the Army from 1957-1971 in Canada and Continental Europe. James, who was married, died in 1989 and was buried in Picton, ON. RUINET, Bert WWII Bert was born in Wolseley, Saskatchewan in 1915. During World War II, he joined the Royal Canadian Army and served in Canada for 5 years. He got married, had 2 children, and worked as a mechanic in Quill Lake, Saskatchewan. Bert has passed away and is buried in Quill Lake Cemetery. RUSHTON, Harry WWI & WWII Harry was born in Ilford, England in 1898. In the Canadian Navy during WWI, he participated in the Zeebrugge raid and the Murmansk Run Counter revolution against the Russian Government. He also mineswept ahead of the vessels that entered ports to block German subs from getting out into the North Sea. In WWII, he landed on the beaches of Normandy on D+6 and with the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Staff Sergeant Rushton retrieved tanks and other equipment around Caen for repair. He also modified Bren gun carriers while under fire to improve their use in order to close the Falaise Gap. He went on to help repel the Germans from Holland. Harry was a master mechanic in the gold mines around Kirkland Lake, Ontario and he had two children with his wife, Elsie Stokes. He died in 1968 and is buried in Elliot Lake, Ontario.
