The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 319 ROBERTSON, Duncan F. WWII & Special Duty Area Duncan was born in Allan, Saskatchewan on June 15, 1924. He joined the Army on November 12, 1942 and served as Signalman with the First Canadian Army Signals in the UK and Northwest Europe during WWII. After obtaining his BA, Duncan joined the regular army in May 1948 as Second Lieutenant after training with the COTC. Duncan served in Canada and Germany with 27 Infantry Brigade in the First NATO Force and with the International Commission for Supervision and Control in Indochina. He was awarded the Canadian Forces Decoration in 1957 and retired that year as Captain. Duncan was ordained on June 2, 1962 and served in Saskatchewan. He left the priesthood on December 30, 1971 and returned to university and worked in library arts until his retirement. Duncan joined The Legion in 1945. He served as RC Chaplin of the Legion Branches in Regina and Moose Jaw. Duncan has been on the executive of Nutana Legion Branch 362 since 1993 and Branch secretary since January 1994. He was chairman of the Advisory Committee for this book. ROBINSON, Howard Albert WWII Howard was born in Arcola, Saskatchewan in 1919. He enlisted in October 1941 and left Halifax on a ship bound for Liverpool, England, a trip that took 13 days. During his five years with the Royal Canadian Dragoons, he drove an armoured car and served in England, Sicily, Italy, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Howard was discharged in February 1946 and was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the Italy Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the War Medal 1939-45. He has been a member of Kelvington Legion Branch 19 for 51 years. RODGERS, Frank WWII Frank was born in Quill Lake, Saskatchewan in 1919. He joined the Army and served in Canada from 1940-45. He married and had two children. Frank was a member of Quill Lake Legion Branch 37 for five years before he died in 1951. He is buried in the Quill Lake Cemetery.
