The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 315 RICHTER, George Walter WWII George was born on July 22, 1924 in Disley, Saskatchewan. He enlisted on January 6, 1944 in Regina and was trained as an Antitank Gunner in Shilo, Manitoba. George served with the Rocky Mountain Rangers in Kamloops, BC as well as in the United Kingdom. He was posted to the Black Watch on October 14, 1944 and became Lance Corporal on February 5, 1945 at the age of 20. George was reported missing on February 28, was found on March 1, but was then killed in action on March 5. He was temporarily buried in Bedburg, Germany on March 7, 1945 and later reburied in Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery. George received the 19391945 Star, the France and Germany Star, the War Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the Memorial Cross for action taken on November 4, 1945. RIGBY, Eric F. WWII Eric was born in Regina on October 17, 1926 and joined the Army on November 22, 1944 in Regina. He served briefly with the Light Infantry in Borden, Ontario and left the service in Regina on September 26, 1945 as Private. After the war, Eric married and had two sons and three daughters and worked with the postal service, the railway and then with the Saskatoon Post Office where he became manager of operational services. RIVERS, Edward “Ted” WWII Ted was born in England. He joined the Canadian Army and served as a stretcher-bearer in Canada, England, and Europe during World War II. He landed in France on D-Day, was later wounded in action, and was subsequently medically discharged. Ted got married, had 2 children, and was a member of Rose Valley Legion Branch 214. After his death, his ashes were spread on his farm.
