The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 309 RADFORD, R. A. WWII R. A. Radford was born on February 15, 1926 in Pleasantdale, Saskatchewan. He joined the Army in January 1943 and served in Canada with the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (RCEME). He left the service on July 4, 1946 as Craftsman. R. A. Radford was married and has been a member of Nutana Branch 362. RADU, John WWII John was born on December 10, 1921 near Stonehenge, Saskatchewan. He joined the Army in Regina in January 1943 and trained in Victoria, British Columbia. Private Radu became a shoemaker in the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps and after serving in BC in Prince Rupert and Vancouver, he left the service in May 1946. Before the war, John had worked in the CPR railway yard for five years. He later became section foreman for nine years then established his own television and stereo service which he operated for 27 years. John was married with 2 daughters. RANDALL, John “Randy” WWII John Randall was born in Hanley, Saskatchewan on August 18, 1922. John joined the Army in Regina and served in the Armoured Corps with 16/22 Saskatchewan Horse (Lord Strathcona’s Horse) in the UK, Italy and Northwest Europe. Trooper Randall left the service in Regina on March 29, 1946. After the war, he farmed in Kenaston, Saskatchewan and was Kenaston postmaster. John served 2 years on the Kenaston town council and was mayor for 6 years. He also served on the local and regional library boards, as well as the hospital board. John was also deputy fire chief from 1965-1987. He was a member of Kenaston Legion Branch 240, serving in most of positions including branch president, poppy chairman, welfare officer and sports officer. John has the Legion Certificate of Merit. He retired and moved to Saskatoon where he golfs in the summer and curls in the winter.
