The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 29 ATKINSON, Robert “Bob” WWII Bob was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on October 21, 1924. He enlisted in the Canadian Grenadier Guards on July 26, 1943 and served in Canada, England, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany with the 4th Canadian Armoured Division. As a gunner and radio operator on a Sherman tank, Bob was seriously wounded in March 1945. He was discharged on September 4, 1945 but spent one year in hospital. He worked for the Federal Government for 35 years and has been a Life Member of Saskatoon Legion Branch 63 for 67 years. Bob received the Meritorious Service Medal in 2010. ATWOOD, Allan WWII Allan was born in the Wimmer School District of Saskatchewan. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served as a Flight Sergeant from January 1942 to December 1944 in Canada and in the United Kingdom. As a bombardier, he took part in early morning flights over occupied Western Europe in 1943 before being was discharged in 1944 and returning to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Allan was married. ATWOOD, Beatrice WWII Beatrice was born in Pittsburg, USA and moved to Wimmer, Saskatchewan in 1926. She joined the Royal Canadian Army and served from June 1942 to May 1946 as a Sergeant with the Canadian Women’s Army Corps in Canada at Dundurn, Toronto and Camp Borden. Beatrice was married.
