The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 307 PYLATUIK, William WWII William was born in 1910 in Clair, Saskatchewan. He joined the Saskatoon Light Infantry and served as a gunner from 1940-1945 in Canada, England, Italy, and Sicily. William wrecked in the Mediterranean Sea and was in the water for 5 hours. He was a member of Quill Lake Legion Branch 37 for four years. William has passed away and is buried in Watson, Saskatchewan. QUICK, Edward Nicolas “Ted” WWII Ted was born in Calgary, Alberta in 1916. He worked as a linotype operator, first in his father’s printing office in Youngstown, Alberta, then at the Plaindealer weekly newspaper and at the Weyburn Review until he enlisted in the Army. Ted served with the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals in Canada, England and Europe. Ted passed away in 1992. QUICK, Victor John WWII Victor was born in Youngstown, Alberta in 1919. He joined the Army in 1939 when WWII broke out. Due to poor eyesight, he did not qualify but because he had just graduated from Hilda Blackwell’s bookkeeping course, they accepted him in the office to register enlisting men. Victor memorized the eye chart and was later accepted and went to England, with the SSR, A Company, # L1220. He took commando training on the Isle of Wight and went on to participate in the Dieppe raid, returning safely back to England. Later he returned to Europe, serving in France, Holland and Germany at the end of the war. Victor passed away in 2010.
