The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 299 PINFOLD, Thornton W. WWII Thornton was born in Quill Lake Cemetery in 1918. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in Canada from 1941-1946. He married, had 3 children, and was a farmer. Thornton was a member of Quill Lake Legion Branch 37 for fifty-nine years before in passed away in 2005. He is buried in Quill Lake Cemetery. PINNINGTON, Eric John WWI Eric was born in Wimbledon, England in 1895 and came to Quill Lake, Saskatchewan in 1912. He served with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in Canada and overseas. Eric married but had no children. He died in 1979 and is buried in Fort Langley, British Columbia. PLUE, Stanley James “Stan” WWII Stan was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 1925. In 1942, at the age of seventeen, he joined the Royal Canadian Navy and did his basic training in Comox, British Columbia. He was then assigned to the minesweeper HMCS Comox, a vessel commissioned to protect the shipping lanes off the east coast of North American. Upon returning to Saskatoon in 1945, he married and built a home in Montgomery Place, a designated residential area for Veterans. He was hired by the Canadian National Railway in 1947 and was a dedicated Railroader until his retirement in 1982. Stan was a member of Saskatoon Legion Branch 63 for more than 50 years before he passed away in February 2012.
