The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 287 PEARCE, David Lenord WWII David was born in Lancer, Saskatchewan in 1920. He enlisted in the Army and served as a Lance Bombardier with Royal Canadian Artillery in England, Sicily and Italy. David was killed in action on November 24, 1943 in Ortona, Italy where he is buried in the Moro River Canadian War Cemetery. David has a Bay named after him at Acheninni Lake in Northern Saskatchewan and a plaque was placed there in 2011. PEELER, Cecil Herman WWII Cecil was born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan in 1911. He joined the Royal Montreal Regiment in 1939 and served in England, France, Germany and Holland. Towards the end of the war, he was reassigned to the 8th Reconnaissance Regiment and for the rest of his life, shared a special comradeship with his fellow soldiers. One of the highlights of his last few years was being able to attend a number of 8th Recce reunions. Cecil passed away in 1992. PERKINS, Eva A. PEACETIME Eva was born on February 3, 1938 in Caledonia, Saskatchewan. She joined the Royal Canadian Air Force on March 23, 1956 and served as LAW in Canada, leaving the service on August 23, 1960. Eva married John Perkins, and both were members of Nutana Legion Branch 362.
