The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 281 PALMER, Hugh F. WWII Hugh was born in Quill Lake, Saskatchewan in 1916. He joined the South Saskatchewan Regiment and served with C Company. Hugh was killed in action in France in 1944 and is buried at Bretteville-sur-Laize. PALMER, Jim RCMP Jim was born in Winnipeg on August 19, 1951 and grew up in Marathon, Ontario. After high school, he took one year of science studies at the University of Manitoba and returned to Marathon to work as a pulp grader for the firm his father worked for. He worked later in a metallurgical lab for a steel plant in Regina and Edmonton until 1975 when he went to Northern Alberta Institute of Technology to study telecommunications technology. He joined the RCMP as a civilian technologist and shop supervisor. He joined Legion Branch 62 in Peace River and served on the branch executive and as second vice-president. Since moving to Nutana Branch 362, he has been chairman of the building committee, third, second and first vice-president, and was a member of several other committees. Jim is married with three daughters and was awarded the Canada 125 Medal in 1972. PARKER, Bert WWII Bert was born in 1917 in Canada. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served as a Corporal in Canada, England, and North Africa during World War II. He married, had 3 children, and farmed at Clair, Saskatchewan. He was a member of Quill Lake Legion Branch 37 for sixty-three years before he passed away in 2009. Bert is buried in Quill Lake Cemetery.
