The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 273 NORRIS, Walter N. WWII Walter was born in Clair, Saskatchewan in 1917. He joined the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps and served at the 16th General Hospital in Canada, England and Europe. Walter married and had 5 children. NOWASAD, William “Bill” WWII Bill was born in Meacham, Saskatchewan on July 22, 1921. He enlisted in Saskatoon on May 15, 1940 and was trained as an airframe mechanic at Mossbank, Saskatchewan and Lethbridge, Alberta. He served in the United Kingdom with 415 Squadron, which was originally with coastal command, and toward the end of the war, became part of No. 6 Bomber Command. Corporal Nowasad left the service in Moncton, New Brunswick on September 8, 1945. Bill earned a diploma in agriculture at the University of Saskatchewan in 1947 and farmed at Meacham, a farm he still owns. He also took a job with the potash mines at Colonsay from 1970 until his retirement in 1986. Married with two sons and a daughter, Bill joined Colonsay Legion Branch 345 in 1947. NUNN, Herbert WWII Herbert was born in Lewisham, England in 1910. He joined the Canadian Army and served with the 1st Battalion, Regina Rifles, in Canada, England, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. Herbert was a D-Day veteran who was wounded twice. He was a married farmer and a member of Quill Lake Legion Branch 37 for forty-nine years before he died in 1995. Herbert is buried in Quill Lake Cemetery.
