The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 269 NETTLETON, William A. “Bill” WWII Bill was born in Moose Jaw on April 10, 1921. He enlisted in Regina in March 1941, was trained in radar work then posted to the Royal Air Force in the United Kingdom. First, he went to an experimental operation known as 1454 Flight where they tried a number of new detection devices. Then he went to 604 Squadron which began with night fighter bombers and was switched to Bomber Command with Mosquito bombers, the fastest RAF planes flying at the time. Sergeant Nettleton left the service in Regina in April 1945. Married with a son and daughter, Bill farmed near Briercrest, south of Moose Jaw, after the war. NEUBAUER, John KOREA John was born in Herbert, Saskatchewan on September 29, 1933. He enlisted in Regina on February 22, 1952 and served with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in Korea after which he returned to Canada. Private Neubauer was transferred to the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps then left the service on February 22, 1955. Married with two sons and a daughter, John farmed near Swift Current and worked part-time in the Swift Current Post Office. He had also worked for a time in the Regina Post Office. NEW, Edward WWII Edward was born in Avonlea, Saskatchewan on November 14, 1919. He joined the Army and served with the South Saskatchewan Regiment in Canada, England, Holland and Germany during WWII. He was married for almost 54 years to Marian McRorie with whom he raised four children. Edward passed away in 1998.
