The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 259 MILLER, Mack RCMP Mack was born in Swan River, Manitoba on August 13, 1935. He joined the RCMP in 1956, trained in Ottawa and served as a Constable at a number of locations: Prince Albert, Tisdale and Uranium City in Saskatchewan and Burnaby and Hazelton in British Columbia. He left the service in 1964, took a diploma in horticulture from Guelph University and undertook a number of ventures. He operated a mobile home park in Young, Saskatchewan from 1967 to 1984 when he moved to Saskatoon where he operates a small plant nursery. While in Young, he served as town councilor and mayor, as president of the chamber of commerce and on the board of the United Church. Married with a son and a daughter, he joined Young Legion Branch 358 and served as secretary-treasurer and branch president. He also assisted with minor hockey. MITCHELL, Milford Harold WWII Milford was born in Asquith, Saskatchewan in 1918. He joined the Royal Canadian Signal Corps and served in England where he married Margaret. She stayed in England after Milford was killed in action in the Battle of Normandy in France in 1944. He was awarded France’s Purple Cross. MOLLISON, John WWI & WWII John was born in Kirriemuir, Scotland on June 6, 1899. During World War I, he served his country in a Scottish regiment. John came to Kisbey, Saskatchewan in 1920 and later found employment with the construction crew building the first Nipawin Bridge. In 1928, he took a grant for a quarter section in the Saskatchewan’s Garrick area. In WWII, he joined the 20th Company of the Canadian Forestry Corps and served overseas from 1941-45. Following his discharge, he worked for the Department of Highways and did maintenance on Highway 55 near his farm until 1963. John raised four children with his wife Betsy. He was a member of Luella Denton Legion Branch 199 for thirty-two years before he passed away in January 1967. He is buried in the Veterans section of the Garrick Community Cemetery.
