The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 253 McRORIE (nee FENTON), Mabel Mina WWII Mabel was born in Melfort, Saskatchewan in 1919. She joined the Army during WWII and served as a nurse in England and France with the 4th Canadian Armoured Division attached to the 21st Canadian General Hospital. Mabel was a member of Avonlea Legion Branch 236 before she passed away in 2011. McTAVISH, Robert Alexander WWII Robert was born in 1919 in Asquith, Saskatchewan where he went to school and farmed before WWII. He joined the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery and served in England, Scotland, Italy, Sicily, Holland and North Africa. He was awarded the Italy Star, the France and Germany Star, the 1939-45 Star, and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. Robert came back to Canada with the 2nd Field Regiment and returned to Asquith to farm. He married Vi Sanderson, raised five children, and farmed until his retirement. Robert was a member of Asquith Legion Branch 326 for 54 years before he passed away in 2002. MEIKLEJOHN, Robert WWI Robert was born in Saskatchewan in 1891 and came to Quill Lake in 1905. He joined the Canadian Army and served in Canada and overseas with the 65th Battalion. Private Meiklejohn was wounded and declared physically unfit for service on July 31, 1917. He received a medical discharge. Robert married and had 4 children. He died in 1964 and is buried in Quill Lake Cemetery.
