The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 21 ARMSTRONG, Harvey WWII Harvey was born in 1923 in Limerick, Saskatchewan. He joined the Army and served with the 101st Light Anti-aircraft Regiment in England and France during World War II. He was awarded the War Medal 1939-45, the France and Germany Star and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. Harvey was a member Regina Legion Branch 1 for a number of years before he passed away in 2003. ARMSTRONG, John Robert WWI & WWII John was born in 1892 in Bay St. Paul, Manitoba. He joined the Army on April 16, 1915 and served in the Canadian Expeditionary Forces, 4th Division, 44th Battalion, Manitoba Regiment, at Ypres, Passchendaele, Somme, Vimy and Lens. In January 1918, he returned to England for officer training then returned to the areas of Amiens, Arras and Cambrai in France in September, commanding the Scout Section. Wounded three times during this war, he was discharged on August 7, 1919 and awarded the Victory Medal, the British War Medal, and the Bravery in the Field Military Medal. John also served in WWII, enlisting in 1941 and serving in the Veterans Guard until his medical discharge in 1943. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. John was a member of Limerick Legion Branch 93 before he passed away in 1974. ARMSTRONG, Robert “Dale” WWII Dale was born in Regina, Saskatchewan in 1921. He joined the Army at the age of 18, went to England, and then was sent to the front lines in Italy, Holland, Japan and elsewhere, driving artillery army trucks. Private Armstrong evaded bombs and guns many times and was in Holland at war’s end. He came home never having been wounded and with a lot of memories. Dale was a member of Whitewood Legion Branch 87 for sixty-six years before he passed away in 2009.
