The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 219 LOEPPKY, Harold Clifford KOREA Harold was born in 1930 in Altona, Manitoba. He joined the Army and served in Canada during the Korean War as well spent time in the Militia. Harold was a member of Legion branches in Fort Garry, Saskatoon and Innisfail, Alberta for 31 years before he died in 2011. MacDONALD, Hector B. WWII Hector was born on December 18, 1922 in Saltcoats, Saskatchewan. From 1943-44, he attended the Canadian Army University Course (CAUC) at the University of Saskatchewan then he enlisted with the Royal Canadian Artillery on November 2, 1943. Gunner MacDonald served in the United Kingdom and Northwest Europe with the 6th Field Regiment Artillery then he left the service in Regina in December 1945. After the war, Hector took Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees, becoming a teacher, school principal and superintendent of education. Married with five children, he has been active in a number of community works (church, curling, soccer, seniors, Legion) and taking extra University courses. Hector was vice-president of Wilkie Legion Branch 139 and a member of the branches at St. Walburg, Milden, Hanley and Saskatoon. MacDONALD, John “Jack” WWII Jack was born on March 21, 1920 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He enlisted in July 1941 in Regina and joined the 5th R/T Battery of Artillery (Royal Canadian Army), serving in the United Kingdom and Northwest Europe. Gunner MacDonald left the service in Regina on January 18, 1946. After the war, he became a meat cutter and manager of a meat department.
