The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 217 LOCKE, Archibald “Archie” WWII Archie was born in 1922 in Sceptre, Saskatchewan. He joined the Army in April 1940 but didn’t go overseas because of medical reasons. He served in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Ontario and Quebec and was medically discharged in 1944. Archie operated a dairy for many years and was a member of Paddockwood Legion Branch 31 before he died in 2006. LOCKE, Elgin WWII Elgin was born in Prelate, Saskatchewan in 1918. He joined the Army in 1940 and served in Canada, England and Europe where he was wounded. He was honourably discharged after his return to Canada in 1946. After the war, Elgin started to farm in Saskatchewan’s Paddockwood area then later moved to Northside, Saskatchewan and worked for the Department of Agriculture. Elgin died in 1999. LOCKE (nee CRAIG), Iona WWII Iona was born in 1925 in Ernfold, Saskatchewan. She joined the Canadian Women’s Army Corps in 1943 and did her basic training in Vermillion, Alberta after which she served in Regina in the Maintenance office and was discharged in 1944. Iona and her husband Archie raised a family of nine children and they were always very active in their community. She has been a member of Paddockwood Legion Branch 31 for fifteen years.
