The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 193 JONES, Raymond WWII Raymond was born in 1920 in Wimmer, Saskatchewan. He joined the Army and served with the South Saskatchewan Regiment in Canada and was in England for three months. In England in 1941, he was killed in action during a bombing raid. Raymond is buried in North Wales. JORGENSON, Lester Orran WWII Lester was born in Lancer, Saskatchewan in 1920. He joined the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals, 4th Division, 10 I.B.R. and served during WWII. He landed at Juno Beach in Normandy, France on July 21, 1944 and also served in England, Holland, Belgium and Germany before returning to his home farm to carry on mixed farming and purchase more land. In 1958, Lester married Audrey Pearce and they raised five children. In 2010, he celebrated his farm’s 100th anniversary. He returned to Holland for the 50th Liberation celebrations and again for the 65th Liberation of Holland. Lester has been a member of Abbey Legion Branch 222 for fiftynine years. KALYNIUK, Nichlaus WWII Nichlaus was born in Clair, Saskatchewan. He joined the Army and served with the Regina Rifles, the Queen’s Own Rifles, and the Canadian Fusiliers in Canada, the Aleutian Islands, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. He was wounded while serving in Europe. After his discharge, he farmed, got married, and retired in Humboldt, Saskatchewan.
