He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served as a Corporal in Canada from 1943-1946. He farmed, got married, had two children, and was a member of Quill Lake, Saskatchewan for forty-six years. John died in 1994 and is buried in Quill Lake Cemetery. HOLT, Howard WWI Howard was born in Pickering, Ontario in 1896 but came to Quill Lake, Saskatchewan in 1906. He joined the Canadian Army and served as a sniper with the 214th Battalion in Canada, England, and France during World War I. Private Holt was wounded in France and lost a lung. He married and had six children. Howard died in 1982 and is buried in Prince George, British Columbia. HOLTZ, David John Edward WWII David was born on January 1, 1925 on a farm in Northgate, Saskatchewan. He joined the Army and served with the Regina Rifles in Canada, United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. After landing on Normandy Beach on June 9, 1944, a few days after D-Day, David served in France and Germany until the end of the war. He was discharged on March 20, 1946 and awarded the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal, and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp. David has been a member of Oxbow Legion Branch 187 for fifty-one years.
