The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 169 HOEGI, Donald W. WWII Donald was born in 1926 in Watson but also lived in Quill Lake, Saskatchewan. He served as a Private in the Canadian Army’s Tank Corps Regiment in Canada, England, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. He married, had three children, and was a member of Quill Lake Legion Branch 37 and the Legion branch in Saskatoon. Donald died in 1994 and is buried in Saskatchewan’s Prince Albert Cemetery. HOEGI, Earl WWI Earl was born to William and Mary Hoegi in Ontario in 1893 but he came to live in Quill Lake, Saskatchewan. He served with the 46th Battalion in Canada, England, and France where he was killed in action in 1918. He shares a military headstone with his brother, Leslie, in the Quill Lake Cemetery. Earl never married. HOEGI, Leslie WWI Leslie was born to William and Mary Hoegi in Ontario in 1895. He served approximately one year with the 8th Platoon, 65th Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Forces in Regina, Saskatchewan during WWI. Leslie died during the flu epidemic in Regina in 1918. He is buried in Quill Lake Cemetery where he and his brother, Earl, share a military headstone.
