The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 131 GARDINER, Ernest WWI Ernest was born in Ontario in 1883 and came to live in Quill Lake, Saskatchewan in 1904. He joined the Canadian Army and served as a Sergeant in the 9th Platoon, 214th Battalion in Canada during World War I. He married Mable Valyernand, had four children, and ran a garage in Quill Lake. He was President of Quill Lake Legion Branch 37 for several years and a member for twenty-five years. Ernest passed away in 1960. GARDINER, Forrest E. WWII Forrest was born in Quill Lake, Saskatchewan in 1918. He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served as a Private in Canada for one month. Forrest married and three children. He passed away in 2003 and is buried in Quill Lake Cemetery. GARDINER, Fred WWII Fred was born in Quill Lake, Saskatchewan in 1912. He joined the Army and served as a Sergeant parts man with the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps in Canada and England during World War II. He married, had two children, and was a member of Quill Lake Legion Branch 37 for twenty-five years. He died in 1971 and was buried in Fort Langley, British Columbia.
