The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 115 FALLOWS, Ben WWI Ben was born in England on February 10, 1894 and came to Clair, Saskatchewan in 1914. He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served in Canada, England and France during World War I. Ben moved back to England after the war and married Jane, a widow with one son. He was a member of Quill Lake Legion Branch 37 and he died in 1979. FALLOWS, Joseph WWI Joseph was born in England in 1895 and came to Clair, Saskatchewan with his older brother, Ben, in 1915. He joined the Royal Canadian Army and served in Canada, England and France. He married Mary Edgar while in England and returned to Canada for his discharge. The war ended on his 23rd birthday. Joseph and his wife stayed on the farm north of Clair until 1937 then returned to England. Joseph died in 1965. He had been a member of Quill Lake Legion Branch 37. FARWELL, Carl Anthony WWII Carl was born in 1923 on a farm in Willows, Saskatchewan. He joined the RCAF at 18 and trained as a pilot before going overseas to England. He was a night fighter pilot, first in a Beaufighter, then a Mosquito. With an irrepressible sense of humour, Carl was known to test his aircraft by lowering his wheels and bouncing down on French roads. Cycling workers from Lille would scramble for safety into the ditches for safety. He served in England, France and Germany and survived a plane crash where he sustained a back injury that plagued him throughout his life. He received the General Service Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the 1939-45 Star, the Defence Medal, and the France and Germany Star. After his discharge in 1945, Carl married Marie and they moved to her home town of Duck Lake where he became part owner of the store and lumberyard. They had three children. He was a member of the Duck Lake Legion Branch 246 for a number of years. Carl and Marie were killed in a car accident in July 1992.
