The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 103 DYOK, Nicholas WWII Nicholas was born in Poland in 1927 but came to Quill Lake in 1931. He joined the Army and served as a Private in Canada from 1943-1949 in Coastal Defence. Nicholas was a member of Quill Lake Legion Branch 37 for thirty years. He died in 1990 and is buried in Quill Lake Cemetery. Nicholas never married. DYOK, Nickolas WWII Nickolas was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 1924 and came to Quill Lake in 1930. During World War II, he joined the Army and served as a Paratrooper with the Airborne Corps in Canada, England, France, Belgium, and Holland. He was with the first group to jump in Normandy and also jumped at the Rhine Crossing in Germany. Nickolas married and had five children. He worked in an Ontario fire department and died in 1959 in an airplane accident over a lake. He is buried in Port Arthur, Ontario. DYOK, Paul Sr. WWI Paul was born in the Ukraine in 1893 and moved to Canada in 1913 at the age of 17. Corporal Dyok spent three years with the Army’s 5th Platoon in Canada, Germany, England, Belgium and France. Paul married Ann Wolovetz and they had four children. He was a member of Spalding Legion Branch 348 before he died in March 1971. Paul is buried in Quill Lake Cemetery.
