The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 89 COBLER, Allan Howard WWII Allan was born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, in 1923. He joined the Seaforth Highlander Regiment and served in the United Kingdom, Central Mediterranean and Continental Europe. He was discharged on April 11, 1946 and received the Italy Star, the France/Germany Star, the 1939-45 Canada Star, the 1939-45 War Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp and the King George VI Medal. He was a member of Branches #350 Southey and #403 Lethbridge of The Royal Canadian Legion. Allan passed away in 2007. COBLER, Terrence G. PEACETIME Terrence was born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, in 1948. He joined the Royal Canadian Signal Corps on May 19, 1964, serving in Canada, and was honourably discharged on March 22, 1968. He worked with RCMP Fleet management until January 13, 1986. He received two P/S awards: 20-year Dedicated Service Award and 20-year Service of Excellence Award. Terrence retired on February 5, 2008 and has been a member of the Lumsden Branch #234 of The Royal Canadian Legion for four years. CODERRE, Wilfred H. WWII Wilfred was born in Fox Valley, Saskatchewan, in 1920. After completing his schooling in Forget, Saskatchewan, he joined the Army but transferred to the Royal Canadian Air Force. In England, he trained as a rear gunner and volunteered for RAF Bomber Command and on his 13th trip over Germany he was shot down and spent 17 months in POW Camps, where he was on a forced 3-month march through Poland and Lithuania. After liberation, he joined the Japanese war but it was over by the time he reached England. At home, he bought a truck and launched his own construction company. W.H. Coderre and Sons Construction is now run by his three sons at Stoughton, Saskatchewan. Wilfred is a Life Member of the Tecumseh Branch #33 of The Royal Canadian Legion and he is enjoying retirement with his wife in Stoughton. CODD, Charles Edward WWI and WWII Charles was born in Stonewall, Manitoba, in 1896. He joined the Army in WWI and the Air Force in WWII, serving in England, Europe and Canada. In WWI, he fought in the battles of Vimy, Passchendaele and Ypres. In WWII, he served in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a cook in Toronto. He passed away in 1962 and was a Life Member of the Kinistino Branch #129 of The Royal Canadian Legion.
