The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 77 CHISHOLM, Lawrence WWII Lawrence was born on August 13, 1909 in Arcola to Alex and Margaret and moved with his family to the White Fox area to homestead at Pine Torch. He married Margaret Bourassa in 1934 and spent some time overseas. They raised eight children. The family moved to Flin Flon for a short time. Lawrence passed away in July 1983. CHISHOLM, Lloyd WWII Lloyd came with his parents, Alex and Margaret, to the White Fox area to homestead in the Pine Torch district. Lloyd spent many years overseas. He is deceased and buried in British Columbia. CHRISPEN, Benjamin D. NAVY Benjamin was born on April 9, 1929 at Rosetown, Saskatchewan, and enlisted in the Navy serving in the Pacific and left the service as an Able Seaman. Benjamin is married. CHOQUE, Alfred WWII Alfred was born in Hafford, Saskatchewan, on May 6, 1909, son of Andrea and Josephine (Dekelver) Choque. He joined the Regina Rifles on April 24, 1942, serving in France until his discharge in February 1946. On day two of the Normandy Invasion, he was sent to France and because of an Army error, he had been given no training in munitions and was not prepared to go into battle. Within five days, he suffered shell-shock and was sent back to England. He recovered and when he was well enough he was told he could go back to Canada if he went to work on a farm. His response, “No, Thanks.” He returned to Canada in February 1946 and stayed in Regina to get his discharge papers and then returned to North Battleford. He married Ann Bunko in 1950 and they raised two sons and a daughter. Al had been a part of his community for over 90 years and saw it grow from a small prairie town to the city it is today. Alfred passed away on May 12, 2008.
