He joined the Prince of Wales Rangers and served in England. YOUNG, Edgar George WWII Edgar was born in Alameda, Saskatchewan, on July 2, 1923. He joined the RCAC on August 30, 1943 and served in France, Belgium and Holland, before receiving his discharge on June 19, 1946. He received the France/Germany Star and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. Upon returning home to Alameda, he went into business as a mechanic, but due to economic conditions, he returned to farming. He married Lydia Serdick of Regina and they raised two children. Edgar was active in the community and is a Life Member of the Alameda Branch #267 of The Royal Canadian Legion. ZENUK, Samuel WWII Samuel was born in Kitchen, Saskatchewan, on December 16, 1922. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1941 and served in England. He was discharged on June 10, 1945. He received the 1939-45 Star, the Defence Medal, and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. He married Lena Bloski and raised four children while farming in Porcupine Plain, Saskatchewan. Samuel had been a member of the Porcupine Plain Branch of The Royal Canadian Legion for 35 years before he passed away on April 5, 1980. YOUNG, Grant McKnight WWII Grant was born in Alameda, Saskatchewan, on March 29, 1921. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force on November 27, 1940 and served in Canada and England before being discharged on March 1, 1946. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. Upon returning to civilian life, he farmed in the Alameda area and married Phyllis Gordon and raised two children. He was very active in the Legion being a Life Member of the Alameda Branch #267 and keeping it going during some low times. Grant passed away on January 18, 2007.
