The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 405 WAGNER, Lyle O. WWII Lyle joined the South Saskatchewan Regiment on January 3, 1944 and served in Canada. He was posted overseas in February 1944 and was wounded in action on August 29, 1943 and was discharged on March 20, 1944. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the 1939-45 War Medal, and the France/Germany Star. WALKER, John Martin WWII John was born in Scarborough, England, in 1923. His family immigrated to Touchwood, Saskatchewan (near Punnichy), in 1925. He enlisted with the Regina Rifles Regiment, Canadian Active Service with rank of Gunner on February 8, 1943 and served in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Continental Europe. He received the 1939-45 Star, the France/Germany Star, and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. Toward the end of the war, John was wounded in the arm and this injury plagued him for many years. He was discharged on March 19, 1946. He passed away in Red Deer, Alberta, on October 23, 2002 and had been a member of the Red Deer Branch #35 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 22 years. WALL, Irene WWII Irene was born in the Wymark District, Saskatchewan, on July 24, 1926. She joined the Army in 1942 and was a clerk in the quarter master store and was discharged in 1945. Irene worked in the Post Office at White Fox before marrying Stan Westman in 1948. She passed away on December 10, 2000. WALL, Howard “Ted” WWII Ted was born in Southern, Saskatchewan, to Herman and Georgina, and moved with the family to the White Fox area, where he worked in mines, the bush and farms. He joined the Navy at the outbreak of the war and served until it ended. He returned to White Fox and moved to Prince George, British Columbia. Ted died in a mining accident on Queen Charlotte Island in October 1969.
