The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 371 SMITH, Charles Henry WWII Charles was born in England on March 30, 1907. He joined the Alberta Calgary Highlanders, serving in Canada and England. He passed away on October 23, 1984. SMITH, Seymour George WWII Seymour was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, in 1920. He enlisted with the 69th General Transport RCASC in Saskatoon on November 26, 1941 and served in England and Continental Europe. He was honourably discharged in Regina on January 19, 1946. He received the 1939-45 Star, the France/Germany Star, the Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, and a Meritorious Medal and Palm Leaf. He is a Life Member of the Swift Current Branch #56 of The Royal Canadian Legion and has a merit for working at Bingo for 21 years. SOPHER, R. Lloyd WWII & PEACETIME Lloyd was born in Nipawin, Saskatchewan, on August 12, 1923. He joined the Army and served in Canada, England, Italy and Holland. He was in regular fighting in Italy for about six months and was called out to go to the Imperial War graves to open a cemetery in Italy and did a lot of travel with his captain after they opened the cemetery. SOMMER, Charles M. WWII Charles was born in Watson, Saskatchewan, on August 11, 1923. He joined the Regina Rifles, Glengarry Highlanders on August 11, 1943 and served in Canada, England, Belgium, Holland and Germany, and was discharged on July 30, 1946. He had been a member of the Watson Branch #272 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 9 years before he passed away on March 22, 1994.
