The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 355 SCHAPPERT, Robert J. A. WWII Robert was born in Marchwell, Saskatchewan, on September 4, 1917. He joined the Army on July 9, 1942, serving in Canada, the United Kingdom and Europe, receiving his discharge on March 21, 1945. Robert met his wife, Olive Kathleen, during military training and they raised a family and farmed until 1956. Robert then became postmaster of the Marchwell Post Office for the next 27 years. He passed away on October 6, 1989 in Langenburg, Saskatchewan, and is buried with full military honours. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the 1939-45 War Medal, the France/Germany Star, and the Italy Star. SCHAU, Beatrice Freida Alma WWII Beatrice was born on July 12, 1925. She served in the Canadian Women’s Army Corps from 1945-1946 in Dundurn, Saskatchewan. Following her discharge on March 25, 1946, she married Raymond and became a farmer’s wife until her death in 1964. SCHENTAG, Joe WWII Joe joined the 101st LAA Regiment on June 19, 1942 and served in Canada, receiving a medical discharge on February 19, 1943. He lives in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the 1939-45 War Medal. SCHENTAG, Jack Andrew WWII Jack joined the 101st LAA Battery RCA on June 6, 1941 and was discharged on October 26, 1942. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the 1939-45 War Medal. He passed away on November 11, 1989.
