The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 351 SANDERSON, Albert Richard WWII Albert was born in Hardy, Saskatchewan, on July 29, 1921. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force on May 20, 1941 and was discharged on September 7, 1945. Albert flew Mosquito Bombers on daytime raids and received his Ops Wings for completing a tour as a flight trainer in Canada. He was in the Special Reserve during the Korean War and Paymaster with the Army after regular service. Albert resides in Kelowna, British Columbia, and has been a member of the Regina, Prince Albert, and Kelowna Branches of The Royal Canadian Legion for 35 years. SANGSTER, John Sim “Jack” WWII John was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, on January 6, 1907. He was attached as an observer to the 1st British Army (586) Field Coy (RE) in North Africa from September 19, 1939 to December 7, 1945 and received MID as a result of his report. He served in Canada, the United Kingdom, Continental Europe, Central Mediterranean area and North Africa. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the 1939-45 Star, the France/Germany Star, the Defence Medal, the Italy Star, the Africa Star, the CE Medal and Clasp, and the War Medal. Upon his discharge, he entered the U of S and graduated with a BA in medical laboratory technology, which he practiced until retiring. He was actively involved in the community until his passing on April 23, 2001, at age 94. He had been a member of the Moosomin Branch #81 of The Royal Canadian Legion for over 50 years. SAXBY, Reg WWII Reg and his brother, Jim, came to the Rivers End District to file for homestead for their mother and two sisters in 1933. He joined the Saskatoon Light Infantry in September 1939 as a dispatch rider, serving overseas, and was discharged in 1945. He passed away in October 1978. SANTER, Richard George “Dick” WWII Dick was born in Welwyn, Saskatchewan, in 1918. He enlisted in the South Saskatchewan Regiment on April 9, 1942, serving in Canada, England, France, Holland, Belgium and Germany. He received the 1939-45 Star, the France/Germany Star, the Defence Medal, and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, and was discharged on January 5, 1946. He married Mable Blight and they had three children, and around 1952, they moved to the Alameda area to farm and joined the Alameda Legion Branch #267 in January 1953. He passed away on May 1, 1976.
