The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 33 BARR, Robert J. NAVY Robert was born on March 2, 1932 at Hamilton, Ontario. He enlisted in September 1950 in the RCNVR and served in Canada leaving the service as a Leading Seaman. Robert is married. BARRETT, Donald V. WWII Donald was born on June 5, 1923 at Watson, Saskatchewan. He enlisted in July 1941 in the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in Canada and left the service in November 1945 as a LAC. Donald is married. BASIOVE, Boris NAVY Boris was born on November 11, 1932 at Saskatoon. He enlisted in the Navy in 1950 and served five years with HMCS Unicorn in Saskatoon. BARRETT, William “Bill” WWII Bill was born on January 3, 1923 in the rural municipality of Glenella in Manitoba. He enlisted on May 18, 1943 and served as a wireless telegrapher on HMCS Toronto, a frigate engaged in submarine patrol on the North Atlantic and left the service on October 15, 1945 at Regina as Ordinary Telegrapher (T). Married with three daughters, after the war, he joined the militia in Yorkton and became a bandsman and played the tuba and drums in the 53rd LAA Regiment Artillery (RCA), which later became a field regiment and finally united with the 10th Field Regiment. He left the service after 26 years as a Lieutenant. He was awarded the Canadian Forces Decoration (CD) and joined the Nutana Branch #362 in 1980 and held the position of recording secretary for the Branch from 1981-93, the longest term of any in that office. He is a Life Member of The Legion.
