The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 331 RELLAND, Peter WWII Peter was born on August 17, 1921 at Duck Lake and grew up on a farm north of Eldersley. In 1938, the family of eight children moved with their parents to Carrot River, settling east of town where they built a saw mill. Peter enlisted in January 1940 in the RCNV and married Leontine Malfair in 1942. He served as a radio operator in the Atlantic North Sea and Mediterranean and was discharged on September 10, 1945. Peter received a lease of two quarters of land in the Connell Creek District and farmed and also ran the tower while Leontine taught school and raised nine boys. They acquired more land near Carrot River, moved there and built a bigger home. Peter passed away on November 9, 1996. Leontine still lives on the farm with their son Rick. RENSCHKE, John WWII John was born in 1920. He joined the RCA (General) on April 9, 1942 and served in Canada until he received a medical discharge in April 1943. After he was discharged John was married. RICHARDS, Kathleen WWII Kathleen was born in 1914 in the Armley District and went to Manlius School. She joined the Air Force as a cook in 1941, and on December 1, 1944, she married Owen Hanna, Orville’s twin. She was stationed in Saskatoon with the #43FTS until she received her discharge in May 1945. She went back home to live with Owen and they raised three daughters: Eleanor, Sharon and Ruth. They sold the farm in 1972 but lived on the yard site until 1977 when they moved to Tisdale. Owen passed away in 1981 and Kay passed away on August 6, 2008. RENSCHKE, William Edward WWII William was born in Langenburg, Saskatchewan, on December 30, 1922. He joined the Army on January 19, 1943, serving overseas, and was discharged on July 16, 1946. He married and raised a family. He farmed and worked at the Potash Mine and retired in Langenburg in 1978.
