The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 31 BARLOW, Ralph WWI Ralph was born in Balington, England in 1891. He came to Canada in 1912 and joined the Canadian Army in 1914 in Souris, Manitoba, and served in Canada, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe and came back to Canada in 1919. In 1939, he was in poor health. Ralph received several War Medals and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. He passed away in 1949. BARNUM, Phineas I. (P.T.) WWI Phineas was born on February 2, 1896 at Powasson, Ontario, to Jack and Mary, and moved with his parents to Ridgedale, where he received his education. He served with the 6th Battalion of the Canadian Army in WWI and was discharged in 1916. He married Eva McRae in 1917 and they moved to his Veterans’ land and had mixed farming. In 1945, he sold the land and finally moved to Tisdale, where he passed away on March 30, 1976. BARR, G. L. “Jerry” ARMY Jerry was born on August 21, 1939 at Central Butte, Saskatchewan, and enlisted on July 5, 1956 and trained as a Civil Engineering Technologist and became a Sergeant and in 1969 was commissioned from the ranks and served in Chilliwack, British Columbia, the Yukon, Edmonton, Petawawa, Ontario, Moncton, New Brunswick , Ottawa and Dundurn, Saskatchewan. He has been a UN observer in the Middle East (1983-84) and in Central America (1991-92) and also organized and commanded the first Armoured Engineer troop in Canada and was awarded the Officer of Military Merit (OMM) for “outstanding performance over the years” and the Canadian Forces Decoration (CD). Married with two sons and two daughters, he retired from the service in 1993 as Major and since has been secretary-treasurer of The Last Post Fund of Saskatchewan. BARR, Douglas W. WWII Douglas was born on June 5, 1920 in Saskatchewan and enlisted in February 1942 in the Royal Canadian Air Force, serving in Canada and the United Kingdom, and left the service on January 16, 1946 as a Flight Lieutenant. Douglas is married.
