The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 319 POITRAS, Norman S. WWII Norman was born in Lorlie, Saskatchewan, on August 18, 1913. He enlisted with the Canadian Army on July 3, 1942 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and left for England to join the Loyal Edmonton Regiment then joined the invasion of Sicily and on to Italy as a bren gunner. He was wounded at the battle of Ortona, and later, three more times. He was sent back to Canada in 1945. He received the 1939-45 Star, the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, and the War Medal 1939-45, and was honourably discharged on September 18, 1945. Norman passed away in 1991 in Weekes, Saskatchewan. He had been a member of the Somme Branch #4 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 46 years. POMEROY, Earl Robert WWII Earl enlisted in the RCA on March 8, 1942 and served in Canada, England, France and Belgium. He was discharged in March 1945 and returned to work at Moose Range, Saskatchewan. He joined the Carrot River Legion #203 on October 11, 1960. Earl later moved to the Cracking River District, out of Carrot River. Earl is deceased. POMEROY, Roy WWII Roy enlisted in the RCA in 1939 and was stationed in Canada during the war. He married Ruby Collison and lived near Arborfield, where he worked at Meek’s Mill and on Frank Lindsay’s farm. They moved to Prince George in 1950 and raised three children: Stewart, Brenda and Russell. Roy is deceased. POMEROY, Gordon WWII Gordon enlisted in the RCA in 1939 and went overseas. He married in England and remained there after the war was over. He passed away on December 5, 1980.
