The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 313 PERSICKE, Alwyn L. WWII Alwyn joined the Royal Canadian Air Force (AC2) Aero Engine Mechanic on June 18, 1942 and served in Canada until his discharge on August 17, 1943. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. He was a member of the Langenburg Branch #250 of The Royal Canadian Legion. PETRIE, Clarence “Slim” WWI Clarence was in WWI with the 164th US Infantry and came from Montana to Tisdale in 1927. He married Annie Sawyer in 1928 and they moved to their homestead and farmed until 1949, when they moved to Arborfield and raised three children: Wanda, Beverley and Bill. Clarence passed away in 1959. Annie joined the Legion Auxiliary. She passed away in 1989. PHILLIPS, Jack WWII Jack enlisted in the RCOC in 1942 and retired to Churchbridge, Saskatchewan. He received the 1939-45 War Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. PETZEL, Oscar Paul WWII Oscar was born in Alameda, Saskatchewan, on June 5, 1914. He married Dorothy Hoop on August 17, 1940 and joined the Army 2nd CAB on June 25, 1942, serving in Canada, England and Continental Europe. He was discharged on March 5, 1946. His regiment was one that landed on the Normandy shore on D-Day. He received the 1939-45 Star, the France/Germany Star, the Defence Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. They moved to Alameda in 1950, he being a mechanic by trade. Oscar joined the Alameda Legion Branch #267 in 1953 and was a very active member for The Legion and community. He passed away on June 5, 1985.
