The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 311 PENNYCOOK, Robert “Bob” WWII Bob was born at Somerset, Manitoba, in 1905. He came with his parents, two brothers and four sisters in 1907 to Saskatchewan. He joined the Saskatoon Light Infantry on January 21, 1940 and served in Canada and England until his discharge on November 19, 1945. He married Muriel Hill of Arborfield who had also served as an army stenographer from 1942-1945. He joined the Arborfield Legion and Muriel was a charter member of the Legion Auxiliary. He received some land from the Veterans’ Land Act and they raised a family of seven. Bob passed away on December 5, 1981. Muriel lives in Carrot River. PEPPER, Alfred WWII Alfred was born in Rozilee, Saskatchewan, on September 4, 1911. He joined the Army on March 10, 1942 and served in Italy, Canada, France and Germany and was honourably discharged on December 1, 1945 with the rank of Captain. He received the 1939-45 Star, the Italy Star, the France/Germany Star, the Defence Medal, the War Medal 1939-45 and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. Alfred passed away on August 26, 1991. PEPPER, Fred WWII Fred was born in Rozilee, Saskatchewan, on November 6, 1914. He joined the Army in 1942 as Staff Sergeant, serving in Canada and was discharged in 1945. Fred was a chartered accountant and worked for the Moose Jaw Co-op until his retirement. He passed away on April 14, 2003. PEPPER, Frank WWI Frank was born in Sussex, England, on November 6, 1883. He joined the Army in September 1916 and served in Canada, England, and France until his discharge in 1918. He was badly wounded at Arras, near Vimy, France, and spent several months in a hospital in England. He was unable to do usual work in Shellbrook, Saskatchewan, and accepted the job as a telephone agent for 28 years. Frank passed away on March 26, 1963.
