The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 301 NISBET, Gordon WWII Gordon was born on November 26, 1921 at Ardath, Saskatchewan, to Charlie and Hazel and worked on farms at Conquest. In 1941, he joined the Army going overseas to Sicily, Italy, France, Germany and Holland and was discharged on November 26, 1945. He married Eleanor McAuley in 1949 and operated a garage at White Fox from 1951-1965. They raised two children. In October 1963, Gordon took his mother on a trip to Holland to see where George, his brother was buried. Gordon and Eleanor belong to the Nipawin Legion. NOLAN, Robert John Allan WWII Robert was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, on February 22, 1918. He did five years of service in Europe with the 14th Canadian Hussars. After the war, he worked for Beaver Lumber in Regina and also lived in Toronto, Ontario. He passed away in the late 1960s. NOVENSKI, Joe WWII Joe was born on May 11, 1924 in Steelman, Saskatchewan, son of Paul and Ida Novenski and lived most of his life in Griffin, Saskatchewan, until he enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces on July 30, 1943. He served in England, France, Germany, Belgium and Holland and received his honourable discharge on December 17, 1946 in Winnipeg. He worked for Sears until he retired after 36 years. Joe received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the 1939-45 Star, the France/Germany Star, the Defence Medal, the War Medal 1939-45 and the Dutch Medal. Joe passed away on October 27, 1996. NORTH, Roy S. WWII Roy joined the Royal Canadian Air Force (LAC) Aero Engine Mechanic in the spring of 1940, serving on Canadian bases at St. Thomas, Hagerville, MacDonald and Calgary. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the 1939-45 War Medal. Roy passed away on June 16, 1980.
