The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 277 MITCHELL, James WWII James joined the Royal Canadian Air Force #19 Canadian Base Dental Corps and served overseas. MITSCKE, Benno O. E. WWII Benno was born in Langenburg, Saskatchewan, on September 17, 1920. He enlisted with the 64th (Yorkton) Field Battery RCA on August 3, 1940, and went overseas in June 1945. He was discharged on September 14, 1945. In March 1946, he joined the RCMP and was stationed in twelve different detachments in three provinces. In 1949, he rejoined the Royal Canadian Air Force in Ontario and was transferred to Calgary in June 1950 and back to Ontario in 1951. He married Catherine and they raised four children. He was then transferred back to Alberta and remained there until retiring in July 1970. He moved to British Columbia and worked as a TV repairman and post office letter carrier until he retired. He lives in Kelowna, British Columbia. He received the Defence Medal and is a member of British Columbia and Alberta Branches of The Royal Canadian Legion. MOLONEY, David Thomas WWII David was born in Gilbert Plains, Manitoba, in 1920. He joined the Regina Rifles and served in Canada, France and England. He passed away in 1944. MITSCKE, Gilbert WWII Gilbert was born in Marchwell, Saskatchewan, on December 14, 1919. He joined the 2nd Regiment 1st Division (Gunner) on December 1, 1941 and served in Canada, the United Kingdom, Italy, France and Germany, and was discharged on November 10, 1945. Gilbert married Esther just before leaving for the war in 1941, and when he returned home he farmed for a few years, raising a family and then moved to Flin Flon to work in the mines and retired in British Columbia. Gilbert received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the 1939-45 Star, the Italy Star, the France/Germany Star, the 1939-45 War Medal and the Defence Medal.
