The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 267 McINTYRE, James A. WWI Jim was born at Gladstone, Manitoba, on February 19, 1896, to John and Mary, and moved with his family to the Ridgedale District, where they farmed. He enlisted and was at Vimy Ridge and returned to Ridgedale after the war and married Alma Magee on July 5, 1926 and raised a daughter, Beverley. Jim was a Legion member and passed away in June 1979. McINTYRE, Westley Lawrence “Wes” WWII Wes was born on January 21, 1919, to Owen and Greta, and was raised at Armley. He joined the Royal Canadian Dragoons Tank Corps and went overseas for five years in Sicily, Italy and Holland. He married Ivy Turner on November 21, 1945 before returning home. He farmed the Veterans’ Land and mined at Uranium City. They raised three children. Wes passed away on December 12, 1976. McPHERSON, Joseph Campbell WWII Joseph Campbell from Wawota, Saskatchewan, was a Spitfire pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was killed in action on June 3, 1942, at age 28, flying a Spitfire aircraft with #1 Photo Reconnaissance Unit out of Benson, England, and is buried in the old communal cemetery in Cherbourg, Manche, France. McPherson Lake in northern Saskatchewan is named in his memory. McLELLAN, Robert Lloyd WWII Robert was born in Worman, Saskatchewan, in 1914. He was in the Armed Forces from 1942-1946, serving in England and France. When he returned home, he took over the operation of the home farm. He sold out in 1971 and returned to Welwyn. He was fond of sports and played on the Welwyn baseball team for many years and was an enthusiastic curler and enjoyed travelling and playing cards. He received the Campaign Ribbon. Robert passed away in 1992 and had been a member of the Welwyn Branch #112 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 46 years.
