The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 265 McGINNIS, John Asa WWII John was born in Nokomis, Saskatchewan, on September 7, 1918. He joined the RCSC in March 1942 as a truck driver and mechanic, serving in England, Italy and through Europe, as well as Holland. He was discharged in February 1946. He passed away on September 17, 1985. McGINNIS, William Joseph WWII William was born in Nokomis, Saskatchewan, on July 21, 1923. He joined the Winnipeg Grenadiers in May 1941 and was taken prisoner in Hong Kong on December 25, 1941, at age 18. He died in Osaka, Japan, prison camp on April 25, 1944 when he was 20 years old. McINTYRE, Frank Benjamin WWII Frank was born on April 21, 1921 to Owen and Greta and was raised at Armley, Saskatchewan. He joined the Army and after training went overseas to Britain, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany and returned to Canada in 1945 and was discharged in 1946. Frank married Rose at Lethbridge, Alberta and worked for 28½ years with the By-Law Enforcement Department. McINNES, Wendell WWII Wendell moved to the Trails End District in 1932 to take a homestead and married Flossie Langford in 1941. He joined the Army in 1942 and was involved with the Normandy landing as a 14th Army Brigade Driver of No. 13 tank and survived the destruction of three tanks, all No. 13. He came home in 1946 to homestead and raised four children. He farmed until 1955 and also worked for Midwest Diamond Drill Company. He passed away on May 10, 1967.
