The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 261 McCULLOUGH, Vern WWII Vern was born to Gordon and Gertrude in the Armley District and helped on the family farm. He joined the Armed Forces and after returning home took over the family farm as his parents had retired. He married Jean on October 23, 1953 and they raised five children. Vern and Jean retired from farming and moved to Melfort on September 30, 1980. McDAIRMID, Kenneth “Ken” WWII Kenneth, son of Archie and May moved fromArmley to Jordan River in 1929. His parents raised a family of seven children: Eva, Sadie, Mary, Gladys, Gordon, Olive and Kenneth. Ken enlisted with the RCA and after his discharge married Florence and they moved to Alberta. McDONALD, Donald WWII Donald was born in Shand, Saskatchewan, on January 8, 1918. He enlisted with the South Saskatchewan Regiment at Weyburn, Saskatchewan, on September 3, 1939 with his five brothers and served with the SSR and the Saskatoon Light Infantry in Dieppe, France, Sicily and Italy. He operated a Bren Gun Carrier and after his discharge at the end of the war, he went to Estevan and North Portal, Saskatchewan, and worked at Motorways. In 1964, he moved to Minot, North Dakota, and was the Motorways Terminal Manager. Donald passed away on July 19, 1982. McDONALD, Allan NAVY & AIR FORCE Allan, the youngest brother, took all his schooling at Moosedale, and was too young for active service but put some time in Canada with the Navy and Air Force. He married Irene Soucy in 1952 and they reside at Kamloops, British Columbia, and have five children.
