The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 255 MARTIN, Joseph Beverly WWII Joseph was born in Govan, Saskatchewan, on January 15, 1925. He enlisted with the Saskatoon Light Infantry on July 30, 1943, serving in Canada, the UK and Holland. He was stationed at Aldershot on VE Day and volunteered for the Japanese war, returning to Canada for training on VJ Day. He was discharged on September 24, 1945 and attended the school of agriculture in Saskatoon and continued to be involved with farming in Silton, Saskatchewan since June of 1946. He has been a member of the Silton Branch #33 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 64 years. MASTER, Edward C. WWII & PEACETIME Edward enlisted on October 9, 1941 with the 64th Field Battery RCA and went overseas with the 12th Field Regiment RCA 3rd Division and to Italy with the 3rd Field Regiment RCA 1st Canadian Division. After the war, he served in the army of occupation and repatriation camp and worked in Yorkton after his discharge on September 25, 1946. He rejoined the Canadian Army in England on October 8, 1953 and was posted to Winnipeg, 1st Royal Canadian Horse Artillery. He married and raised a family, and was then posted in 1957 to Germany for three years. In 1960, he returned to Canada and was posted to Gagetown, New Brunswick. In 1962, he was posted to Shilo, Manitoba, as an instructor in the recruiting depot and was discharged on March 6, 1971 and retired to Brandon, Manitoba. He received the 1939-45 Star, the Italy Star, the France/Germany Star, the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the 1939-45 War Medal, the Canadian Centennial Medal and the Canadian Forces Decoration. McALPINE, Donald Alexander WWII Donald was born in Dubuc, Saskatchewan, on October 10, 1916. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in May 1940 and served overseas in England, Ceylon, and Burma. He returned home in 1945 and married Edna Olson from Stockholm, Saskatchewan, on July 28, 1948. They purchased a farm through the Veterans’ Land Act and farmed until he passed away on January 7, 1986. They raised two lovely daughters and have three grandchildren who all live in Langley, British Columbia. Donald was a member of the Stockholm Branch #265 for 40 years and he was still President when he passed away. McADAM, Evelyn WWII Evelyn was born in Cardcross, Saskatchewan, on December 3, 1924, daughter of William and Edith Parker. She enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force, Women’s Division on November 9, 1943 and served for two years in Canada in Toronto, Ontario, Rivers, Manitoba and Regina, Saskatchewan. Evelyn now resides in Tisdale, Saskatchewan, and is an active member of the #50 Tisdale Branch of The Royal Canadian Legion. She also served for two years as President and later on the executive committee of Branch #78 RVS in Saskatoon.
