The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 243 LORTIE, Victor WWII Victor enlisted in the Army, Régiment de la Chaudière, on June 14, 1942. He was discharged in November 1945 and farmed south of Arborfield. Victor joined the Arborfield Legion #203 on February 3, 1961 and his wife, Carmelle, joined The Legion Auxiliary on March 9, 1964. They moved to Prince George, British Columbia, and Victor transferred his membership to Prince George Legion #43 in 1973. Their children went to Zenon Park School. L’OSTE-BROWN, Basil Hatton WWI Basil was born in Shifnal, England, in 1880 and came to Canada to homestead. When WWI broke out, he enlisted in the Canadian Army 195th Regina Battalion on March 7, 1916 and was sent overseas. He was killed in action at Vimy Ridge on April 28, 1917. L’OSTE-BROWN, Lawrence Joseph “Lance” BOER WAR & WWI Lawrence was born in Shifnal, England, on June 6, 1879. He joined the British Army with the Queen Victoria’s 16th Lancers in 1899, serving in India, the Boer War, the Middle East and was a Drill Sergeant in Curry Barracks, Colchester, England. After his two brothers were killed at Vimy Ridge and the war ended, he came to farm their land at Simpson, Saskatchewan. Lawrence passed away on September 8, 1954. L’OSTE-BROWN, Douglas WWI Douglas was born in Shifnal, England, on October 6, 1884. He joined the 195th Regina Battalion on March 7, 1916, serving in France and was discharged in 1919. After the war, he went back to his farm west of Simpson, Saskatchewan. He passed away in 1974.
