The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 239 LIDSTER, Francis Gerald “Mick” WWII Mick was born on a farm at Earl Grey, Saskatchewan, to Myrtle and John, on December 13, 1917. He moved with the family to the White Fox area in 1927. He joined the Air Force in 1942 and married Thelma Wufum in 1943 while he was in training. He was stationed at St. Thomas, Ontario, and Calgary, Alberta, and returned to farming, trapping and custom breaking in 1945 and raised three children. Mick is retired and belongs to the Nipawin Legion. LIDSTER, George Eldred WWII George was born at Jansen, Saskatchewan, to Myrtle and Jack, on February 1, 1922, and moved with the family to the White Fox area. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1942, and after basic training was stationed at Suffield, Alberta, on a highly-confidential experimental germ warfare station. He was discharged in 1946 and was a field officer for the Saskatchewan Timber Board. He married Peggy Carr in 1948 and they raised three children. LINDER, Clarence William WWII Clarence was born in 1910 at Preston, Waterloo County, Ontario, and came to the Wawota area as a small child with his parents, Bill and Emily Linder, and attended Pickwell School. He joined the Army on March 12, 1941, and went overseas in November 1941, serving in the Mediterranean area and Continental Europe and taking his discharge on October 19, 1945. After the war, Clarence worked for several area farmers and at other jobs. He passed away on June 9, 1979 at Wawota. LINCOLN, William Joseph WWI William was born in England in 1883 and came to Canada about 1900 and homesteaded in the Fernly district, northwest of the town of Wawota, Saskatchewan. He joined the Army and fought with the 28th Battalion Canadian Infantry (Saskatchewan Regiment). He was killed in action in France on April 7, 1916. He was awarded the British War Medal and Victoria Medal. Having no known grave, his name is inscribed on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial in Belgium.
