The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 229 LANGLEY, Mervin Frederick SPECIAL AREA DUTY & PEACETIME Mervin was born in Springside, Saskatchewan, on March 5, 1931. He joined the regular Royal Canadian Air Force on May 17, 1951 and served in Canada and Germany. He received a medical discharge as a result of a motorcycle accident while serving in Germany on September 29, 1954. He returned to Springside, where he worked at the Spruce Radar Base and took over his father’s farm in 1967. Mervin passed away on August 6, 2005 and was a Life Member of Branch #71 of The Royal Canadian Legion. LANGLEY, Robert Brent SPECIAL AREA DUTY & PEACETIME Robert was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, on March 6, 1956. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force on July 26, 1973 and served in Egypt, Norway, Germany, Syria and Bosnia. He was discharged on June 12, 2000. Robert had the honour of cooking for the Queen in Yellowknife and also for many members of government. Robert’s son and daughter-in-law are currently serving. Robert has been a member of Branch #71 of The Royal Canadian Legion for ten years. LARRY, Jack WWII Larry joined the Calgary Regiment as a trooper in the Army serving overseas. He passed away in 1993. LANGLEY, William Newton KOREA, SPECIAL AREA DUTY & PEACETIME William was born in Springside, Saskatchewan, on December 30, 1923. He joined the Air Transport Command HQ in January 1943 and served in Canada and Germany, being discharged in 1973. After retirement from the forces, he took a position with DND as a business administrator in Lahr.
