The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 227 LANES, Ernest Conrad WWII Ernest was born in Canwood, Saskatchewan, on April 10, 1919. He joined the Saskatchewan Regiment in 1942. He was killed in action in Italy in December 1943. LANGLEY, Albert Edward WWI Albert was born in Kamsack, Saskatchewan, on December 3, 1896. He joined the First Depot Battalion Regina Regiment on May 10, 1918 and was stationed at Bramshott, England, where he guarded German prisoners. He was demobilized on June 24, 1919 and arrived back in Winnipeg just as the “strike” was on and they only allowed him off the train because he had relatives in Winnipeg. Albert passed away on November 2, 1992 and was a Life Member of the Springside Branch #71 of The Royal Canadian Legion. LANGLEY, Gordon Bert PEACETIME Gordon was born in Springside, Saskatchewan, on August 10, 1924. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in October 1951 and was stationed at many different bases across Canada and was discharged on October 18, 1954. When he was out of the service, he worked as a security guard at Yorkton Regional High School at the time of his death on January 29, 1978. LANGLEY, Everitt Newton WWI Everitt was born in Birtle, Saskatchewan, on July 27, 1898. He joined the Regina Rifles, serving in Canada and England. He farmed in the Springside area prior to joining the Rifles. He was killed in action in Vimy, France, on August 15, 1917 and is buried there.
