The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 211 JONASSON, Clifford Daniel PEACETIME Clifford was born on February 17, 1961 in Big River, Saskatchewan. He enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces in November 1978 at Cornwallis, Nova Scotia, and was honourably discharged after completing his recruit training course on February 28, 1979. He passed away on October 14, 1984 in a hospital in Vancouver, British Columbia. JONES, Clarence Noble WWI Clarence was born near London, Ontario, and came west with his family and joined the Army at Lethbridge as Artillery Gunner with 31st Battalion and went overseas to England in 1916 as a horse driver, moving guns, high explosives and shrapnel in France . He was in France and Belgium in 1917, taking part in the Battles of Ypres, Passchendaele, Hill 70 and Vimy Ridge. He arrived in 1919 at Tisdale and received land at Armley, where he farmed. He married Janet Thompson and they raised a family of three children. Clarence passed away on June 17, 1982. JONESU, Emile WWII Emile was born in Dysart, Saskatchewan, in 1914. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on July 13, 1943 and served in Canada until he received his discharge on August 24, 1945. He taught school in Alameda from 19461947. Emile was married and received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. He passed away on October 15, 1985. JONES, Theodore “Ted” WWII Ted was born in July 1922, the youngest of six children, at Lake Valley district. His parents, Earl and Pearl, moved the family to Ridgedale, where Ted went to school and worked at various jobs. He joined the Air Force in 1942, and after his training he went overseas until his discharge in 1945. He returned to Nipawin in 1946 and married Charlotte Whyte in 1947 and later purchased land in the Petaigon district, where he farmed and raised purebred Angus cattle. They raised three children: Diana, Andrew and Greg.
