The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 203 IRWIN, Leonard George KOREA Leonard was born in Carman, Manitoba, on September 15, 1933. He joined the Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry 3rd Battalion on January 21, 1952, serving in Canada, Japan and Korea. He was discharged on January 18, 1955. Leonard received the Korean Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. He returned to civilian life and worked as a millwright until his retirement. He has been a member of the Lumsden Branch #234 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 31 years. JACKSON, Albert Lyle WWII Albert was born in Saskatchewan in 1921 and joined the 4th Army Squadron, serving in France, the High Seas, the British Isles, England, Holland and Europe. He received the Victoria Cross for bravery and was honourably discharged. JAMES, Kirk William SPECIAL AREA DUTY & PEACETIME Kirk was born in Melfort, Saskatchewan, on August 14, 1965 and was stationed with the reserves as a military policeman in Vancouver and served as a peacekeeper for the United Nations and on NATO Tours in the Balkans in 1990s. He received the Canadian Decoration, Canadian Peacekeeping Medals, the Unprofor (United Nations Protection Force, former Yugoslavia) Medal, the NATOArticle 5 Medal, the NATO non Article 5 Medal, the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal and the Wound Stripe. JACKSON, Walter Henry WWII Walter was born in Kinistino, Saskatchewan, in 1918 and enlisted in the King’s Own Rifles of Canada at Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, on May 6, 1942. He served in Canada, the United Kingdom, Africa, Italy, France, Germany and Holland. Walter received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the 1939-45 Medal and Star, the Italy Star, the France/Germany Star and the Defence Medal. He was discharged on November 17, 1945. In 2005, he received the Holland Medal. Walter has been a member of the Kinistino Branch #129 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 33 years.
